Strikesorb SPD Modules

Strikesorb is a patented technology from Raycap that ensures the continuous protection of mission-critical equipment. Stikesorbs are industrial-grade electrical surge protection devices that offer the best defense against transient voltages, in fact they are so effective they can typically absorb thousands of repetitive surge events without failure or degradation.

SPD Design

Strikesorb modules incorporate a single, heavy duty, distribution grade Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) disk, assembled under pressure in an environmentally sealed aluminum casing. This unique design provides very low internal contact resistance, excellent thermal management of the MOV and uniform distribution of the surge current over the total area of the protection element, thus resulting in an extremely high energy handling capability combined with very low let through voltages. Strikesorb’s patented design minimizes the effects of ageing and completely eliminates the risk of catastrophic failure, explosion of fire, which are common in conventional surge protection devices.

The MOV technology provides superior protection characteristics which remains unchanged throughout its long service life. The module has been designed to withstand repeated surges providing a cost-effective and maintenance free operation. Strikesorb are rated for safe operation without the use of internal fuses. Strikesorb SPDs are tested and certified according to international safety and performance standards, IEC and UL. Strikesorb’s expected lifetime is over 20 years and all modules include a 10-year limited lifetime warranty.

The module range is based on their rated capacity and size. The modules are Strikesorb 30, 40 or 80.
